Welcome to our Senior School section. Here you will find a wealth of information regarding Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 studies at Dagfa School.
At Key Stage 3, in years 7, 8 and 9, students follow a broad programme of study that can best be described as an enhanced version of the National Curriculum. Subjects taught include Mathematics, English, History, Geography, Citizenship, French, PSHE, as well as Music, Drama, Information Technology (all students leave Dagfa School with real practical knowledge of ICT), Design and Technology, Art, Home Economics, PE and Games.
In year 9, students and parents consult carefully with teachers to choose which GCSE options will be studied at Key Stage 4. In addition to the core subjects studied by everyone (Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry), students select an additional 4 subjects from a possible 10.
Senior school pupils enjoy all the necessary facilities for their studies. PE lessons make full use of our on-site sports hall and all-weather turf as well as the nearby University sports fields and olympic swimming pool. In addition to the usual classrooms, there are newly built laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology and a brand new Performing Arts Studio Theatre. There are also well-equipped specialist areas for all the practical subjects. Two ICT suites complete the modern facilities on offer. These consist of a modern network of desktop computers, all with multimedia and internet access over a high speed digital line. Pupils always have a computer to themselves during their specialist lessons. This guarantees every child’s entitlement to developing proficient use of leading industry-standard software.
Class groups never exceed 18 pupils. This greatly enhances the degree of personal teaching attention which is one of the strong features of our school. Our pupils are typically well-motivated throughout the school, as noted in the latest inspection report.
As we provide our pupils with the academic and moral tools to grow and develop, our prime concern is to equip each child with proficiency in the skills necessary to pursue successful careers – and with a maturity of outlook that will cope with life’s inevitable ups and downs.
We have produced a Senior School Handbook and an Information Booklet for Year 7 which pupils and parents can refer to at any time for specific information on expectations and routines at Dagfa. Click on the link below for a downloadable pdf version of this document:
